Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at individuals who wish to become residential childcare workers, working within children and young people’s residential childcare services. It forms the Knowledge and competence element of the Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young people's Workforce, Residential Childcare pathway.

How long will it take?

The total qualification time (TQT) for this qualification is 610 hours and of this 466 hours is recommended as guided learning (GL).

Include the development of children and young people in residential childcare, how to safeguard and protect children and young people in residential childcare, how to support children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse, Support group living in residential childcare and Support the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people in residential childcare.

Assessment Method

This qualification is assessed by portfolio of evidence.
